Winair Supervisory Board resigns

Philipsburg - March 22, 2011 -  The Supervisory Board of Directors of Winair tendered their resignation on Monday during a meeting with the share holder representatives.

Tortola - Feb. 26, 2011 - A spokesman from American Airlines said that on April 5, the company will cut back its six scheduled flights to four each day.

Feb. 23, 2011 -- Air France has announced two routes which it expects to provide a boost for European tourism to the French Caribbean. The airline will operate flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Pointe-a-Pitre in Guadeloupe and Fort-de-France in Martinique from 4 November 2011.

Feb. 18, 2011 -- Providenciales will be JetBlue's 16th successful destination in the Caribbean. Daily flights from New York's John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) begin Feb. 17 and weekly Saturday service will begin on Feb. 19 from Boston Logan International Airport.

KLM Expands Strongly into Caribbean


Feb. 8, 2011 -- KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is performing a robust expansion into the Caribbean, offering an additional 2,600 seats each week. The expansion will start when KLM’s winter schedule goes into effect on 30 October. On that same date, KLM will introduce direct flights to Quito and Guayaquil in Ecuador.

WASHINGTON - Feb. 4, 2011 -  The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced today that the FAA and JetBlue have signed a NextGen agreement that will allow the airline to fly more precise, satellite-based flights from Boston and New York to Florida and the Caribbean beginning in 2012.

Kingstown -- Feb. 3, 2011 -- St Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves yesterday criticised the decision by the Trinidad-based Caribbean Airlines (CAL) to expand its operations into the Eastern Caribbean, saying it was doing so in contravention of the treaty governing the Caricom trading bloc.

Basseterre, St. Kitts (Feb. 3, 2011) -  The April 2011 schedule will feature daily service between San Juan and St. Kitts and add a Friday/Saturday, Saturday/Sunday late evening incoming and early morning outgoing service, the timing of which will facilitate important connections at San Juan, as well as a weekly Saturday day trip service to Puerto Rico from St. Kitts. Nevis will get three non-stop flights per week from San Juan.


Jan. 28, 2011 -- JetBlue has added fuel surcharges of $35 each way on flights to and from Puerto Rico and $45 each way on flights to and from other points in the Caribbean.

Jan. 27, 2011 -- AirTran Wednesday announced the continued expansion of its Caribbean flight schedule along with its seasonal travel schedule.

Jan. 25, 2011 -- Blue Panorama Airlines open a new route, from Milan, Italy, to Antigua and Barbuda after negotiations held between the Caribbean Islands Tourism Authority, and representatives of Press Tours, an Italian Tour Operator , and the Italian airline.


Philipsburg -- Jan. 24, 2011 -- The Government Accountants Bureau SOAB, in its report of September 3, 2010, on Windward Islands Airways International Winair, classifies the airline's financial position as "alarming" and lacking in cash flow to ensure that its operational activities can be executed at an optimal level.

PANAMA CITY, Jan. 21, 2011  -- Copa Airlines, subsidiary of Copa Holdings, S.A. announced today that as of June 2011 it will increase daily flight frequencies to several countries in its extensive route network, offer more convenient schedules and begin service to three new destinations: Toronto, Canada; Porto Alegre, Brazil; and Nassau, Bahamas.
